Round: Misery Business



Halloo everybody! Maybe this is our last task… Last Sunday...Our beloved lecturer Miss Fisha, had given some “souvenir” for us for last class.. ;-p

à We have to choose the number and get the question on the spot and discuss in 10 minutes with PRECISELY & CREATIVE and too many actor and actress in our class actually..;-p

The lucky question no 5 is_______ the presentation began...

REEN: Hallo everybody, you know what? My lecturer gives one question about Can dysfunctional conflict change to functional conflict….. I’m confusing you know…emm... Hah, friends have you been heard about dysfunctional and functional conflict? I need your explanation and opinion regarding this question….

MIRA: Reen..owh my cute friend..As I understand…but how can I relate them to the organization? Daus, you as the ‘most’ handsome boy in the world, can you give me an example how to relate it?

‘THE HANDSOME BOY IN THE WORLD’,DAUS: OF COURSE…as I know there are three types of conflict in the organization which are task conflict, relationship conflict and process conflict. For me, the relationship conflict is the most suitable example for the dysfunctional conflict. For example, in the organization there had married couple who work in the same department. One day, they have conflict regarding to their personal matter and brought it to the office. Of course it will effect to their performance as they cannot concentrate to their work as it is involve emotional feeling.. Understand Mira?

REEN: Not really, I’m still confused…

SOFIA: Dear friend, let me give another example thoroughly about the situation that Daus gave, Let say, in the one company, Mrs. Most Beautiful and Mr. Not So Handsome are in the one company they are husband and wife they also are both managers, and they are also getting a divorce so that I bet they had a conflict in their home but, in the company even they had a conflict and they discuss anything about work that achieving a same goal it become a functional conflict, As a managers also they have to show their professionalism towards their workers and encouraging their workers to work smart to achieve the goal

FATIHAH: Can I add some more? The interactionist view does not propose all conflicts are good. Rather some conflicts support the goals if the group and improve its performance, this are functional, constructive forms of conflicts. Additionally, there are conflicts that hinder group performance; these are dysfunctional or destructive forms of conflict

REEN: Owhh… now I get some view from your explanations, means that as I understand here, a group member may perceive an action as dysfunctional, in that the outcome is personally dissatisfying to him or her in the group. However, that action would be functional IF IT FURTHERS THE OBJECTIVES OF THE GROUP

REEN: Yes as you all wish, by the way, thank you all for your cooperation. This evening we will have a dinner at Pizza Hut, you all can count on me ($$$$)

Group cohesiveness in decision making:bad or good influences


Group cohesiveness is attractiveness of the group to members, together with their motivation to remain as part of the group and resist to leaving, definition by Piper, 1983. Group cohesiveness is increase when members spend time together and undergo a severe initiation, when the group size is small and predominantly female, when external threats exist and when the group has a history of previous successes. Cohesiveness influence productivity and productivity influence cohesiveness. Camaraderie reduce tension and provides a supportive environment for the successful attainment of group goals and the members feeling been a part of a successful unit, can serve to enhance the commitment of members. Basketball coaches, for example, are famous for their devotion to teamwork. They believe that if the team is going to win games, its members have to learn to play together. Popular coaching phrases include ‘there are no individuals on this team’ and ‘we win together, or lose together’. The other side of this view is that winning reinforces camaraderie and leads to increased cohesiveness that is successful performance leads to increased intermember attractiveness and sharing. More important has been the recognition that the relationship of cohesiveness and productivity depends on the performance related norms, established by the group.

In the group, there obviously have pressures to conform. This is a social pressure in groups. The desire by group members to be accepted and considered asset to the group can result in squashing any overt disagreement, thus encouraging among viewpoint. Besides, the domination by the few members can be dominant coalition is composed of low and medium abilities members, overall effectiveness will surfer.

As in our opinion, the group cohesiveness may be affected to the negatively and positively relations. It will cause to the goals and the values that the group carried on. As the question statement, the group cohesiveness can cause strongly impaired in decision making process. We agree with this statement because it is a normal attitude for the human being to act differently with others even they strongly cohesive since their childhood. We cannot simply object people’s opinion or ideas because may be the idea may use to make the group’s decision more better and accepted. For example, the student life. They absolutely have their own group cohesive to share anything that they should make in their normal life. Sometimes, they may be occurs the conflict between them. So, they should find the best alternative way with the brilliant and good mentality to solve the conflict.

CONSIDER PERSONALITY OR???...

On the afternoon, in one class, one group of student is discussing one topic about the personality. This is the last assignment given by their lecturer at the end of the study semester. The topic is: - ‘DO WE NEED TO CONSIDER PERSONALITY IN RECRUITING THE NEW WORKERS? WHY YOU SAY SO.’...

So, they give their own opinion about the topic...

Atiqah:
(hmm)… is it the entire member here???(Look around…)

Hafiz:
(run a little to a group) sorry… sorry… I’m late. I have meeting before this. Well, I’m the important person.

Wani:
Is it?? (Look at hafiz with a weird face) I don’t think so…

Hafiz:
are you jealous??(hehehe)

Atiqah,ha and wani:
WHATEVER…

Atiqah:
(hmm)…Let start our discussion about the last topic that our lecturer give it to us. Do you know about the topic, right??

Ha, Hafiz and Wani:
Yes maam..

Atiqah:
Okay. I will start first. For this topic, in my opinion, it depends on the way people thinking about the personality. Some people consider the personality to be used when recruiting the new workers and some are not really care about the personality and only look with qualification of new worker. For me, I think that we should consider personality to be in recruiting new workers. This is because from the personality we have, it will reflect by other people whether good or bad. Example, if one person wearing untidy cloth be the candidate for interview of filling the vacancy, if you are the interviewer, what are your perception about it? I believe that you will assume for the first in you mind that person is dirty person. For me, I think that person are has no discipline, lazy and cannot do the work although he have a qualification. The first perception is really important that will reflect our view at later situation. How about your opinion, Hafsah??

Hafsah:
hmmm… I think that the personality is not really important in recruiting the new workers. This is because if only personality is looking by interviewer, it is not enough. It does not mean that if that person have a good personality but there is no qualification, so it no use of recruiting that person. The organization needs someone that can do the job efficiently, complete and can help the organization to achieve the goal. So, here we can see that the qualification is very important in recruiting the workers. Beside, now a day, most people don’t really look into the personality itself. They are more to look into qualification itself. If personality being considered, it may be unfair to the person who had low personality like shy, quiet and so on in today live. That is what I think…

Wani:
May I give my opinion, friends…

Hafsah:
Of course my dear…

Wani:
I think that both of your opinion is very important. Personality and qualification is very important in order to recruiting the workers. This is because if the organizations want to recruit the sales marketing workers, the candidates should have a good personality in order to face the customer or client. It will effect the organization’s reputation. For the qualification, the candidate also must know the task and it must relate to their qualification so that they can work efficiently. Example, when one person apply the job in marketing. As we know, this job needs a good communicator and independent. If that person has well in personality and qualification that suitable with this job, I believe that he will get the job. Well, Hafiz? Don’t you want to say something?

Hafiz:
well, in my opinion, I’m agreeing with wani about this. Well, actually it depend how on person itself. As wani said that both are important, as also it must refer to the specification of the job itself. Example, if the job doesn’t need many moves around, why not we give to person like handicap person? Beside, two elements is important because when there have these two element, personality and qualification, that is good side, it will strongly encourage us to believe that person really can do the job very well rather just refer only one element. Don’t you think so??

Atiqah:
okay. We assume that each of you have your own opinion about this. It may same with the outside the world, you know….

Wani:
ohh, really??? we know.

Wani, Ha,Tiqa and hafiz:
(laugh together..)

Hafsah:
well, its late to go to the next class now...we should move now..

Hafiz:
yes, and I have another meeting to go… (hehe)

Wani:
huh, always meeting!!!!…make sure that you don’t forget about your responsibilities as a student…

Hafiz:
yes maam…

Atiqah:
Who’s maam?? Are you already married wani???

Wani:
its not!!i’m still single you know…
(all laugh together while walking for next class)

Why Mr Ghairah is here and just wearing his boxer?? by Group 5 !!



Do you consider lesbians and gay person as a workforce diversity? YES !

Enjoy this story 1st, and then ‘ gay ‘ will be yours !!!


Part 1 : 7.30 am, while waiting bus.

Qama : why are u late Ain? ( with a grumble face)

Ain : Sorry my lovely ‘pet’, I am woke up late because of the wonderful ‘lust’ night with you. Never mind my dear, like always, I will spend you a lunch. ( Ain rub gently Qama’s hair)

Part 2: 9.30 am, because of the dramatic story, both of them were came late to office.

With the innocent face, both of them sit and began their work.

Kring Kring Krong…Kring Kring Krong.. Kering Kering Kerongkong !!! ( Boss is calling them)

Boss : Qama and Ain, “feel free” to come to my room now! Please inform Anis and Fizah too“

Tukkk..Tukkk.. ( Qama and Ain knocked the door )

Boss : Yeah come in, shoe off please! Mak Cik Kiah just mop my carpet ( with a squinting eyes ).

Suddenly, both of them were shocked because there was a handsome guy who are just wearing an attractive boxer ( Spongebob ) Gheeezz!!

Part 3: 10 am, all of them in Boss’ room.

Boss : what are you looking for? Owh, forget to introduce my boy….. errkk my bestfriend, Mr Ghairah.

Qama and Ain shake hands with Mr. Ghairah while Anis and Fizah speechless and look at each other and shrink their forehead.

Boss : the purpose I call all of you is to divide the Cleaner department into two groups. This is because Mak Cik kiah will take maternity leave. She will give birth for her 13th children! How strength is she.. kahkahkahkah bulllgrrpp !!! ( gives a big laugh until his denture came out !! )

Boss added : Ain and Qama will clean our office on Sunday and Monday, the rest days will be Anis and Fizah.

Anis : erkkk.. but boss? Erkk.. both of them cant supposedly in one group. They won’t clean the office, but they will busy “ clean “ each other ! ( with a sarcasm sounds )

Fizah : I agreed boss! I saw Qama and Ain took their pictures in devalues condition. Sooo Lesbian! Yuckek Man ! what a firaun attitudes!

Ain : Jealous!! But boss, we didn’t do that in the office? Normally we did it after office hours, 6 pm at Taman Asmaradana Kemuncak Cinta ! ..oppsss, sorry Qama, I’d opened our secret already!

Boss (talk in his heart) : I also did the same thing with Ghairah, who cares !!! but at different place which is Taman Lobak Buasir. (besides the Taman Asmaradana Kemuncak Cinta) Hehehehe.

Part 4 : 10.15, the boss begins his explanation ~

Boss : It is ok Fizah, I’m also gay ( while wink his eyes towards Mr Ghairah ). But I still can complete my task and being a good boss for you all. Gay and Lesbian are also human being. It is doesn't mean that if they are gay and lesbians, they cannot be employed to work. They need wages in order to fulfil their necessity and needs.

Ain : that’s perfectly right boss ! In term of work, we are professional. We can divide between our work and our personal matters. Both of you, please understand us. ( with a pity face )

Qama : Listen here! even we are lesbians, we are not really express our sexual orientation in the office. We try to hide it when we are in office. Both of you, don’t worry ok. We will make sure that we finish our work on time."

Anis : Alright friends. Accept it. Maybe both of you can cooperate each other to do the works since both of you are cohesive.

Fizah : Sorry guys because misunderstood with you all just now. But the question is, why Mr Ghairah is here and just wearing his boxer????

Ain, Qama, Anis and Fizah : WallaaaaaWeehhh !!! Tetttttt !!!
